From the Ground to the Fire — Biblical Food, Open-Fire Cooking & Garden Living
Our goal with From the Ground to the Fire is to share through video and pubilc demonstrations a way of life rooted in the past—through cooking, gardening, and daily practices shaped by Scripture. As with all that we do through Osprey Ministry, our desire is to live out and teach scriptural principles in practical, visible ways.
From the Ground to the Fire demonstrates the preparation of food using traditional methods rooted in Scripture. All food prepared in this series is scripturally classified as clean, reflecting a commitment to biblical instruction and intentional living.
In addition to cooking, we also share how we plant and tend our garden, explaining the reasons behind the choices we make. From soil preparation to harvest, we aim to show how stewardship of the land is connected to obedience, patience, and care.
When cooking, we demonstrate the full process of preparation and cooking over open fire using cast iron pots and Dutch ovens. We seek to honor the provision we are given, ensuring that nothing goes to waste. Food scraps are returned to the earth through composting, enriching the garden soil and continuing the cycle of life.
Meals are occasionally offered by request and are also shared freely as part of our commitment to hospitality and community. This reflects the heart of scriptural teaching—care for others, generosity, and fellowship.
We will post below the next event and recipes.
As we often say: prepared with care, shared in good faith and sprinkled with Scripture along the way.

Turkey Giveaway: Feeding Families with Dignity
Bringing hope and nourishment to families in need during the holiday season.
This year, we felt led to give away smoked turkeys to families in our community facing hardship. Partnering with a local church, we identified families in need and personally delivered the turkeys on December 23. It was a simple act rooted in compassion and gratitude — and a reminder that Yahweh often answers prayers through the kindness of others.

The Pastor’s Testamoney
“Osprey Ministries was a real blessing to our church this Christmas. They provided three turkey dinners that we were able to give to families in need, and it meant more than words can say. The families were extremely thankful and truly touched by the generosity shown to them during a hard season. Osprey Ministries was easy and pleasant to work with, and their kindness made a direct difference in the lives of people in our community. We are very grateful for their heart to serve and help others.”

Recent Outreach & Events
Highlights from our recent community outreach and events where we’ve been blessed to serve.
Cherokee Boundary Ministry
This has been a meaningful year of sharing and service for our ministry. We were blessed to sing each month on the Cherokee Boundary in North Carolina, where we were welcomed into the community and given opportunities not only to share music, but also to give away clothing and other needed items.
During this time, one Cherokee brother shared his desire to begin a sobriety drum group. We were honored to support that vision by blessing him with a large powwow drum.

From the Ground to the Fire
Our hope is to share the first episode of From the Ground to the Fire on our YouTube channel at the end of March. We begin where all provision starts—with the soil.
In this opening episode, we walk through preparing the garden for planting, explaining how seasonal timing and the phases of the moon have long guided agricultural practices. From Scripture to practical observation, we explore why watching the signs Yahweh placed in the heavens was never about superstition, but about stewardship, patience, and working in rhythm with creation.
From the Ground to the Fire — Episode One: Preparing the Garden
This episode focuses on the groundwork—clearing, preparing, and understanding the land—before a single seed is planted. It is a reminder that healthy growth begins long before the harvest, and that faithful preparation is part of honoring the provision we are given.
As this series unfolds, From the Ground to the Fire will continue tracing the path from soil to table, showing how gardening, food preparation, and hospitality are all connected to daily obedience and care for what Yahweh has entrusted to us.
Follow along on our YouTube channel for biblical gardening, open-fire cooking, cast iron meals, and traditional food practices rooted in Scripture. Each episode reflects a return to intentional living—where faith is not only spoken, but practiced from the ground up.

Chicken Dinner

Last year, it was placed on our hearts to provide three turkey dinners at the end of the year during the Hanukkah and Christmas season. We were not promoting either holiday, but simply showing love as families gathered together.
This year, Easter and Passover fall during the same week. Just as we provided turkey dinners during the last holiday season, we will be preparing BBQ chicken meals, complete with canned goods and dessert, to make each meal whole for this holiday as well.
Our vision is to provide five meals to families in need within our Appalachian mountain community. As before, a local church will assist by selecting the families and delivering the meals. There is always more families in need, and we have room on the grill for more chicken. If anyone desires to help, each $30 donation provides a family with a meal.
Our chicken dinner will be featured in an upcoming episode of From the Ground to the Fire on our YouTube channel.
This meal reflects the heart of what this project is about—simple, intentional food prepared using traditional methods rooted in Scripture. From the ingredients we choose to the way the meal is prepared, everything is done with care, patience, and respect for the provision Yahweh has given.
In the video, we walk through the preparation and cooking process, using open fire and cast iron to demonstrate techniques that have sustained families for generations. This is not about presentation or trend, but about returning to practices that honor both nourishment and fellowship.
Meals like this chicken dinner are not only prepared to be eaten, but to be shared. Hospitality has always been central to biblical living, and food was meant to bring people together—around the fire, at the table, and in conversation.
You can watch the full preparation and cooking process on our From the Ground to the Fire YouTube channel, where we document biblical gardening, traditional food preparation, and faith lived out through daily provision. Each episode traces the journey from soil to fire, reminding us that how we prepare and share food matters.
